Citizen Science

What is citizen science? “Crowd sourced science” and “public participation in scientific research” are other names you might hear for this fast growing phenomenon.  Citizen science is when members of the public become involved in collecting data for a research project that is overseen by professional scientists.  Being involved is a fantastic way to learn about real research going on in all kinds of scientific areas as well as contributing very important data that the researchers could not go and gather themselves.  The variety of projects available  emphasizes that science is happening everywhere and it is not all done in white lab coats!
